Do Men Have Progesterone? What Does Progesterone Do in Males?

Man progesterone normal range, effects on sexuality, and low progesterone treatment for males explained.
Do men have progesterone hormone like women?
Yes, men have much progesterone hormone as women in days of bleeding.
Both estrogen and testosterone are produced from progesterone, and most sex hormones are made from cholesterol.
Where is progesterone produced in males?
Males produce most progesterone during testicular production of testosterone from testis and produced in smaller amounts by the adrenal glands after the onset of adrenarche in both males and females. To a lesser extent, progesterone is produced in nervous tissue, especially in the brain, and in adipose (fat) tissue, as well. While ovaries is the main producer in women.
Progesterone is the source hormone and gets converted in the male body into testosterone and other hormones.
Feminizing effects of progesterone in men:
Low sex hormones including progesterone in male lead to increase in feminine characteristics like the growth of breasts than man’s normal breasts “man boobs syndrome”, excess fats in Ass’s region, feminine sound, but no man could have menstrual  period, ovulation or pregnancy due to low progesterone and testosterone levels, instead of that, men with low sex hormones could experience back and front pain as female with obstructed period do, and only congenital cases can show altered sex signs and symptoms, means that the sexual exhausted men show low prog and low T only experience mild feminine aspects.
Functions that Progesterone do in men are:
Main Progesterone hormone in male is to act against estrogen hormone (antagonist) in order to reduce its feminine effect or neutralize it, because the higher estrogen than progesterone in men can lead to low testosterone levels which means low masculinity of any degree.
Blocking 5-alpha-reductase to promotes higher levels of testosterone in your body, enzyme 5-alpha-reductase  acts to convert testosterone into dihydrotestosterone (DHT), however DHT is the active testosterone in the body and the cause of male pattern balding, prostatic hyperplasia, and prostate cancer. this is why progesterone reduces estrogen-driven cancers like prostate cancer in men, and breast and endometrial cancer in women.
Indirect roles of progesterone in male include regulating the immune response, slowing the digestive process, reducing anxiety, and building and maintaining bone, muscle mass, and considered a second male sex hormone.
Do men need progesterone?
Low progesterone levels in men means low testosterone, high prolactin hormone and may have low estrogen, which cause gynecomastia, the medical term for man-boobs, low sperm count and viability, low lipido, and increased body fats in men, so that man need to take progesterone to fix man-boobs and high prolactin levels, the result of progesterone therapy in men in normal testosterone level and normal milk hormone “prolactin”.
Causes of low progesterone levels in males
Aged men: have low testosterone (the masculinity hormone) which causes estrogen levels to rise, and progesterone rapidly fall down as a result.
Estrogen dominance: means high estrogen level against progesterone level in men (Pg./E2 ratio)
Cause of E2 dominance in men include: Alcoholism, obesity, chronic stress and glandular dysfunction, and environmental factors as when man exposure to xenoestrogens and phytoestrogens which are hormone-mimicking chemicals found in the air we breathe and in some consumer-based products such as soybeans, caffeine, chemical detergents and used plastics.
Such unreal estrogens are risk factors when exposed to organs that have sensitive estrogen receptors sites such as the breast, uterus, and thyroid. the long term effect is probably undesirable because estrogen receptor sites are still occupied, so that it’s beneficial for women with E2 dominance to have low amount only to control high E2 and low progesterone and emphasize the hormonal balance.
Phytoestrogens have been shown to inhibit the conversion of T4 to the active T3 thyroid hormone, and can trigger hypothyroidism.
Progesterone make regulation of cell metabolism of estrogen to promote the oxidative pathway which prevents conversion of the much weaker estrogens (the estrone), to a more potent form, called the estradiol.
What Does Estrogen Dominance Do in your body?

  1. Excess, stubborn and hard to lose body fat, especially abdominal and chest fat
  2. Hair loss
  3. Male breast tenderness
  4. Cellular changes leading to cancer, including breast cancer in men
  5. Enlargement of the prostate
  6. Inflammation of the prostate
  7. Increased frequency of urination (waking up multiple times at night to go for a pee)
  8. Heart disease (makes you more prone to chest pains and heart attacks)
  9. Depression and fatigue
  10. Reduced sex-drive
  11. Erectile dysfunction

What are symptoms and signs of low men progesterone levels?

  • Hair lossman boobs and excess fats
  • Weight gain
  • Depression and Fatigue
  • Growth of man-boobs, medical term is Gynecomastia.
  • ED: medical term for Erectile dysfunction
  • Impotence and Low libido
  • Bone mass loss
  • Muscle mass loss
  • man breast enlargement: medical term is gynecomastia and commonly know as man-boobs.

What is normal progesterone level in men?
Adult males have levels similar to those in women during the follicular phase of the menstrual cycle.
Males ≥16 years 0.27 – 0.9 ng/mL, 0.86 – 2.9 nmol/L
Female or male 1–9 years 0.1 – 4.1 or 4.5 ng/mL, 0.3 – 13 nmol/L
While Progesterone levels are relatively low in children and postmenopausal women.
What should a man do for low progesterone?
Treatment and recommendations:
If a man fell poor sex drive and weak erection he must take blood tests for sex hormone testosterone, dihydroepiandrosterone “DHEA”, progesterone, estradiol, sex-bending globulin, prolactin, FSH, LH, in addition to semen analysis, albumin, and complete blood count for anemia and blood cells.
If a man sex hormone results show low T , low progesterone, normal FSH and LH: the meaning is normal testicles with some acquired hormonal imbalance due environmental factors or other disease not related primarily to sexual functions, diagnosis and treatment made according to each reason, consult a specialized doctor.
Natural treatments for low progesterone are Omega 3 fatty acids, Zink supplements to stop converting testosterone to estrogen in men and help losing man boobs with other medications, and foods rich in Vitmain B6 such as almonds, Liver, walnuts, hazelnuts and chestnuts, also there are natural progesterone creams applied to Chest, Inner Arms, Inner Thighs, and Abdomen.
What does progesterone treatment do for men? does creams work?

  5. Corrects erectile dysfunction in much the way viagra does, by increasing production of nitric oxide
  6. Helps normalize blood sugar levels
  7. Normalizes thyroid hormone function
  8. Stimulates new bone formation
  9. Improves brain function, has antidepressant properties
  10. Improves skin problems including acne, seborrhea, rosacea, psoriasis
